Why NetPrivacyScan offers two modes
Connection Quality focuses on responsiveness and performance to Cloudflare's edge. Maximum Throughput uses multiple parallel browser transfers to push the connection harder and estimate peak download capacity. The two numbers answer different questions.
Download speed
Download throughput describes how quickly data reaches your browser. Browser tests are useful estimates, but results can differ from dedicated native applications and ISP laboratory tests.
Latency and jitter
Latency measures round-trip delay. Jitter describes variation between latency samples. Lower values are generally preferable for interactive uses such as calls and gaming.
Testing a VPN
Run a test without the VPN, then connect to the VPN server you actually use and test again. Some reduction in throughput or increase in latency can be expected because traffic takes an additional encrypted route.
